About the Artist - Heck Lindsay

Heck Lindsay was a self-taught and uniquely talented Australian artist whose creative career spanned several decades and disciplines. He began his professional journey as a Creative Designer in display and promotions for Myer in Brisbane (1963–1968), where he contributed to the imaginative world of retail visual storytelling.

He later became Art Director at Channel 10, a role he held for 28 years. During this time, Heck developed a distinctive artistic style that blended creativity, narrative, and visual impact across television and design. After retiring to Coolum Beach, he continued his artistic practice as a sculptor, further expanding his body of work and creative legacy.

One of his celebrated contributions includes the iconic 1960s Myer Christmas window displays, which have been revisited and reproduced as artworks based on original storyboards created for displays such as those at McWhirters in Brisbane. These works continue to live on through a range of merchandise available in various styles.

This website has been created by his daughter, Simone Avraam, in honour of his life and artistic legacy. It serves as a space to celebrate and preserve Heck’s remarkable artworks, as well as to share them with a wider audience. Through this site, visitors can explore and purchase her book Florence the Fabulous Flower Fairy, which features Heck’s original illustrations.

His designs will also available for purchase as home décor and lifestyle products through Spoonflower, and as apparel and merchandise via Redbubble, allowing his artwork to continue reaching new audiences in everyday forms.
