Step into a magical garden and discover the enchanting world of Florence the Fabulous Flower Fairy, a charming story created by author Simone Avraam and brought to life through the beautiful artwork of illustrator Heck Lindsay.
This very special book has its origins in Brisbane’s much-loved Christmas window displays of the 1960s. Located at McWhirters in Brisbane’s Valley precinct, these memorable displays featured elaborate 3D scenery and animated puppets that captivated generations of families. Originally designed as Thumbelina, a unique collection of seven beautiful watercolour paintings by Heck Lindsay formed the storyboard for one of these magical displays. Painted on A2 card, the original artworks remained previously unpublished and have now been lovingly reproduced in this special book.
For Simone Avraam, this book is much more than a children's story. It is a heartfelt tribute to her late father, Heck Lindsay, and a way of preserving and sharing his exceptional artwork with a new generation.
A magical story. A piece of Brisbane history. A treasured tribute to a father's artistic legacy.
Perfect for families, collectors, lovers of Australian illustration, and anyone with a fondness for the magic of Christmas past.
